Finding the path of best fit

Recently I offered the latest project at Terrapin, Space Neighbours (written by Nathan Maynard), as a case study for an approach to sustainable design that I’ve been developing. It involves meeting with all the key players at the beginning of the project – writer, director, performers, makers, stage managers, producers, and administrators – to create the Rules of the Game together, guiding principles for the sustainability choices we all make along the way that are fit for purpose and all pulling in the same direction. This process took me to unexpected places and made the design path for Space Neighbours very clear.

I spoke with Paula Martins of P+ERL at Griffith University and you can read the interview as part of their Eco Sisters series. There will be other artists and other approaches from around the world featured soon, so keep an eye out.
